Polish C4P Half Track in 1/72...

...a new kit from First to Fight models

Another recent release from Polish manufacturer First to Fight in their range of 1/72 injection moulded kits and they are a bit different because each one comes along with a magazine detailing the history of the subject, though all in Polish.  It gives some history of the subject, along with some archive photos, and a larger colour profiles than on the box, so give you the paint scheme for your model.  This C4P half track was a Polish artillery tractor designed to go with the 75mm 1897 Schneider artillery piece, which is the subject of another new kit by First to Fight, and which is reviewed separately.  Just the one kit in the box with this one and it goes together well.

The assembly instructions are on the back of the box, using an exploded diagram.  I must say the diagrams is very small, and like the colour scheme, could usefully have been reproduced in the magazine in a larger format, so easier to see. The detail is nicely done and it isn't a difficult model to build.  I found the fit of parts to be very good, and things like the bumper bar really finely moulded.  The track units are done in one piece and fit on the chassis neatly and simply.  The one error in the instructions are an indication to fit the rear tow hook on the back of the chassis before adding the rearmost section of the superstructure.  Actually you need to fit the superstructure and then add the tow hook om the back plate of this.  As with their 75mm Schneiders they suggest Vallejo colours but I used the Polish AFV Camouflage colours from Hataka, another brand of acrylic paints, and the ones I choose for Polish camouflage finishes. These colours dry with a satin finish, so I gave it a coat of Revell Matt Clear in their rattle can range, a varnish I find works well and reliably.  The only outstanding job to do is to add some clear glazing for the windscreen and some light weathering..

The First to Fight kits are imported to the UK by Tiger Hobbies Ltd, where I bought my example.
