German Small Field Kitchen Hf.14 in 1/35...

...kleine Feldkuche 14, a kit from IBG Models

Not new but I recently had a go at building this useful little kit from IBG.  Their German Field Kitchen is not particularly warlike, very different to a Panzer of course, yet equally important.  As the famous phrase tells us, 'an army marches on its' stomach'.  Feeding the troops is as vital as fuel and ammunition.  So for many potential dioramas, the inclusion of a field kitchen makes for an atmospheric addition.

The kit is all on one sprue and simple enough to build.  The fit of parts was good and didn't present any problems though the chassis frame takes just a little bit of care.  The only thing that does need to be dealt with are the mould seams.  On a number of parts, such as the wheels, the mould seams need to be removed, with a file or sharp knife.  There is an option to fit the main cooking vessel with the lid open or closed.  It even includes the butterfly fastenings to hold the lid closed.  It didn't take long to build and worked out well.  The kit does include transfers for a couple of data plates on the back of the unit.

The IBG kits are imported to the UK by Tiger Hobbies Ltd, where I bought my example.
