Meng Kids Lancaster Bomber...

...building the Meng kit

I have done the Meng Kids B17 before, and their He 177.  Designed for assembly without the need for any cement, this works really well, and mine was built without using any cement.  It is a caricature of the aircraft, which is a current fashion in Japanese models in particular recently, and captures the look of the original very neatly.  The upper surfaces are moulded in Light Earth plastic with the lower parts in black.  So, for the youngster, it could be left unpainted.  I also like the way the bomb bay doors are open, and the internal bomb load is depicted in there as well.

If this sort of model manages to attract more youngsters into our hobby then that is really to be applauded  For the more experienced modeller they are simply a bit of fun and relaxation.  Moulded in grey, black and clear plastic, it works well without needing any paint and has self-adhesive 'stickers' for transfers.  I will add some paint to mine...but I'll update this when that gets done...

If your are wondering about a present for your children/grandchildren etc and hope to encourage them to find enjoyment in our hobby, then this could be a great choice to help them.

I bought mine through Tiger Hobbies Ltd here in the UK
