Leopard 1 MBT in 15mm scale...
...5 models for the wargames market in the one box, from The Plastic Soldier Company
This pack of 5x 15mm scale models of the Leopard 1 A3/A4 can alternatively be finished as the Canadian Leopard 1 C1 A3 which simly involves fitting an alternative glacis plate and laser rangefinder. For the Bundeswehr versions, the 1A3 and 1A4, these were the fifth and sixth production batches of the Leopard 1 and featured a new shape of welded turret in place of the original rounded cast turret of the earlier versions. The Canadian army bought these, leaving most of them stationed in Europe as part of NATO, just a few being used in Canada itself.
The box holds 5 copies of the same sprue, allowing for 5 complete models to be built. Helpfully, the pattern for the multi-colour Bundeswehr camouflage is illustrated on the back of the box. The models are quick to build and I found they went together without any fit problems. The hatches can be fitted open or closed so you have the choice whether or not to fit the crew figures in place, for Commander, Loader and Driver. One or two places where the mould seams need to be filed down, but nothing much. Add these to their other modern AFVs in the same scale, the Russian T-55 and American M60A3 and they are starting to build a neat series of 15mm scale wargames models that modellers can enjoy even if not wargamers. I for one look forward to seeing what they come up with next.
As ever, I really like the look of the finished models, and in simple terms, they 'look right' to me. There are no transfers included in the kit.
With 5 per box, this is a good value way of building up your wargame units.
