Title:  Super Drawings in 3D, The Battleship HMS Prince of Wales

New in Kagero's SuperDrawings series of soft-cover books is one on HMS Prince of Wales. A modern ship but famously lost to Japanese air attack in the Far East, along with HMS Repulse. As it points out in the background text which forms the introduction to the book, this was naval disaster came just two days after the attack on Pearl Harbour.  The background includes the table of general characteristic of the ship, and the text also tells us of the name it was originally due to be given before being changed in the final stages.

The bulk of the 93 pages are filled with the first class computer generated  3D colour images that this series is best known for. Every aspect of the ship is illustrated, and in excellent detail. As well as the basic structures we get finer detail such as radar, gun positions and ships boats and railings, just as examples. Add extras such as the assorted ships boats, secondary armament and the camouflage colours and pattern that will be so useful to the modeller. Also included is the Supermarine Walrus she carried, and the handling rails between the hangers and the catapult.

Tucked within the pages of the book is a separate, larger, sheep of 1/350 scale plans, plus on the back, details such as boats, secondary armament but drawn in the even larger scale of 1/200.   A useful addition to this series from Kagero.

Distributed by Casemate Books, who kindly provided my review copy and another excellent one for the warship modeller.
