Title: Panzer Brigade Bundeswehr

Author: Daniel Nowak

Publisher: Tankograd

The second of this new series from Tankograd taking on the topic of a recent set of exercises for the modern German Army, the Bundeswehr.  The topic is exercise Lippische Rose 2018, from January this year.  The background and details of the units involved and the 'story' of the event are given in the opening pages, which are all in German language.

The heart of this 40-page softcover book though is in the first class set of colour images showcasing the various vehicle types that featured significantly in the exercise.  These mainly cover the Leopard 2A7, the Schutzenpanzer Marder 1A3 and the Buffel Bergepanzer. Rounding things off in the final pages are some other vehicles that featured, including the Fuchs, the Biber bridgelayer, Dachs engineer vehicle and the little Waffentrager Wiesel 1A1 TOW.

The large format photos are crisp and clear, giving a great view of not just the physical detailing on the AFVs but also with the addition of natural foliage for temporary camouflage along with the patterns and degree of weathering from the mud on the forest tracks they have been using.  There are also a couple of useful maintenance photos included, with large engine hatches opened up for servicing.  There are plenty of kits of modern German AFVs on the market thanks to the likes of Revell and Trumpeter, and this book will make a very useful reference for any modeller wanting to add that 'used' look to their finished display.
