Title:  TopDrawings 72, Republic P-47 Thunderbolt

Author: Maciej Noszcak

Publisher:  Kagero

ISBN:  978-83-66148-14-7

A new addition to the TopDrawings series from Kagero, number 72, and for what I would describe as the multiple variants before it was changed to the quite different 'bubbletop' variants we are used to from the later stages of WW2. There were a lot of detail changes over the variants, and they include the very different look of the P-47 G, a twin cockpit version.

The book follows the usual format of the series, with the first page giving the background notes in both English and Polish, including how one of the early aircraft suffered from a weakness where the tail broke off in flight. Drawings are provided in both 1/48, including on the larger, folded sheet that is tucked between the centre pages, and then 1/72 profiles with shading which illustrate the changes made from one version to another. The 4 centre pages carry excellent colour profiles illustrating a mix of camouflages and markings, while the back cover has a couple more, both in all-metal finish.

Another good addition to the TopDrawings series by Kagero, and one I am sure modellers of the P-47 will find interesting.
