Gallic Naked Fanatics in 28mm scale...

...a recent release from Victrix

Another new set of injection moulded 28mm Ancient wargames figures from Victrix, this time containing 24 figures representing Gallic Naked Fanatics.  Yes, it does mean naked, all they are wearing is a belt and if you choose the option, helmeted heads.  The full pack contains 6 identical sprues, each one holding four figures, plus a variety of heads, weapons, shields and arms.  What you get are -

  • Separate heads allowing multiple variants

  • Bare heads and helmeted heads with optional crests

  • Choice of arms for javelins, spears, swords, musician and standard bearer.

  • Mix of Gallic shields.

  • Can be used as Gallic warriors against the Romans

  • Can be used as mercenaries in a Carthaginian army

  • Can be used as Ancient Britons against the Romans

The parts are numbered on the back of the header card, which guides you towards the various combinations.  The main bodies are nicely proportioned and put simply, 'look' right.  There is a mould seam around the figure bodies which needs to be filed down but fit of parts is good, so assembly is quite quick.  Full naked figures, painting flesh will be the challenge for these, but certainly something a bit different.  For the shields there are transfers available via the LittleBigMan Studio range.

Next job is to paint the figures.  This should be interesting...

Thanks to Victrix for the sample figures, these are now available.
